Mr. Big Stuff

Well, not much has been happening in our house lately. Sprinter (Utah's has no real Spring; it's a Spring-Winter mix) has been as lovely as usual. Despite the weather we've been able to get outside here and there. One big thing that we are pleased to announce is...

That's right! Itai has learned how to pedal! We were playing outside today when I decided it was high time for him to pedal. The whole thing is overwhelming for Avi. There really is a lot to do: keep your feet up and moving, push on the pedal (which is uneasy input for him), steer, look and balance.
Itai started slowly, but very soon he was cruising down the street to the our favorite grassy hill. He was so proud so himself. He kept shouting,"Baby on bike! Baby on bike!"

We played at the hill until they were worn out, but Itai still wanted to ride his trike back home.
Itai isn't the only one doing something impressive. Avi has been keeping busy himself. He has really opened up the last few weeks. His eye contact has really improved and suddenly he has begun doing everything he can to communicate. He is speaking, even using new words or words we haven't heard in ages! The other day he said, "Want see Einsteins!" He's using sign language, here he is happily signing "balloon" while holding a beloved example.

Yep, it's been a pretty fun couple of days.

They are growing up so quickly! They are handsome little devils! It is fun to hear about all the things they are learning. Way to go, Andes boys!!!!

Avi looks so happy with that balloon! ;o) I'm glad he's communicating more, vocally or otherwise.

Itai will be joining me on bike tours in no time. :o) Someone else in this family will have to like it eventually.

It is funny when you have a child with special needs how much you realize simple tasks are really not simple. It definitely makes it easy to not take advantage of how special it is when they or their siblings accomplish it :)

Wow, that's awesome that Itai learned to pedal, and Avi is communicating so much more! What a great week!
